The very first Orient Express made a journey from Paris to Istanbul in 1883.

Within a few years travelling on this luxury train became extremely fashionable and it was soon world famous. For the first time, it was possible to travel by train in the luxurious atmosphere and conditions of a Grand Hotel. But the outbreak of the 2nd World War also signalled the end of this cormfortable way of travelling.

In the 1980's however, the Orient Express once again plied the Paris-Istanbul route. Naturally steam locomotives again pulled historicai carriages from the 1920's.
