If only I had discovered this fabulous band a couple of years earlier. The way matters stand, I had to grow 41 years old before a woman friend of mine sent me a copy of their album "Fear of a Blank Planet", and I knew immediately that I - an almost lifelong admirer of Pink Floyd and English Art Rock in general - had stumbled upon something truly extraordinary ! Porcupine Tree were the project of Steven Wilson, and judging by Wilson`s latest solo albums - "The Raven that refused to sing" and "Hand..Cannot.Erase" - it seems as though Wilson was not in the least dependant upon his former bandmates to produce outstanding music.
