The last few days have been very up and down. Every other night I stayed awake, the intense nerve activity and pain suddenly intensified after I had fallen asleep and felt reasonably tolerable nervous restlessness in my legs. At three o'clock in the morning, the peace and quiet was over. I got up and was shocked to feel the tingling sensation travelling up my legs to my hips and my body shaking. I couldn't get back to sleep and was exhausted during the day. So I lay in bed all day and only got up to go to the toilet. This was followed by a quiet, restful night and I began to hope that things would get better. But then I had another agonising night. And it continued to alternate like this. It seemed to me that every sport, every movement I did during the day was then ‘punished’ at night with severe nerve pain.
Getting up is no fun because I know that the tingling will get worse and worse. Any kind of movement becomes torture. For example, emptying the dustbin or going to the grocery store. I have often gone without food just to keep the tingling bearable. Because when I'm not on my feet, the tingling calms down for a while...
