The eurozone debt crisis is escalating. As well as Greece and Portugal, Spain and Italy are now also facing problems. Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy want to join forces in a bid to strengthen the euro.
A true European economic government and a debt brake would put pressure on eurozone states with excessive financial difficulties and a financial transaction tax would reduce speculation.
