Three young women from Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Thuringia who had never met before gassed themselves to death in a tent last summer in what appeared to be a suicide pact. According to police, their mobile phones and computers showed that they had been in virtual contact before they met. Although experts argue that suicide pacts predate the Internet age, the Web does make it easier for suicidal people to make contact with each other.
