Germany is known around the world for making fast sports cars. But compact, fuel efficient models are becoming more popular.One and a half million readers of a consumer magazine were asked to choose the most sensible car. The criteria included family friendly spaciousness, good performance and fuel efficiency. The winners were the VW Jetta, the Ford Focus and the Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Each of the three winners is available in at least one version with average fuel consumption of no more than four liters of fuel over 100 kilometers. Drive it! introduces the fuel efficient winners.
